Governor Charlie Crist has appointed Broward County native Sean C. Alveshire to a seat on the Broward College District Board of Trustees. Alveshire, 39, replaces Lourdes L. Garrido, of Miramar, who had served as a trustee since 1999. His term, which requires confirmation by the Florida Senate, extends through May 31, 2013.
He currently works as director of business development for Stiles Corporation. Before joining Stiles Corporation, he founded and operated North Hills Productions, a television production and sports broadcasting company that produced sports programming for the Sunshine Network, Fox Network stations and local network affiliates. He also worked as a sports broadcaster for local and national radio and television outlets.
In 2003, he accepted a position with the Miami Dolphins, serving as a salary cap and contract analyst. In 2004, he accepted the position with Stiles Corporation, where he handles business development in Palm Beach County and on the Treasure Coast.

He currently serves as a member of the executive board of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County and the Regional Business Alliance. He also serves as a member of the boards of directors of the Chamber of Commerce for the Palm Beaches, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, the public policy committee for Workforce Housing and Junior Achievement of Palm Beach County. His efforts within the education community began in 1993 when he was asked by St. Thomas Aquinas High School, from which he is a graduate, to create a video production department. His other involvement with education-related endeavors includes serving as chair of the 2009 William T. Dwyer Awards for Excellence in Education, which recognizes Palm Beach County’s top teaching professionals in elementary, middle and high schools as well as in career education and special education.
Alveshire is a graduate of Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications, where he earned a bachelor of science degree with a concentration in broadcast journalism. He and his wife Denise live in Plantation.
