Frequently Asked Questions
Who must take the Computerized Placement Test?
- All new, degree-seeking students must have test scores. If you have
SAT or ACT test scores, please provide them to the Admissions/Records
Office and bring them with you your New Student Advisement/Registration
session. If you have not taken either of the aforementioned tests or
do not have the scores available or if the scores are more than two
years old, you must take the Computerized Placement Test (CPT).
- Transfer students who have successfully completed college-level English
and mathematics course with a "C" or better may be exempt. See an advisor
for more information.
Who is exempt from the Computerized Placement Test (CPT)?
- In addition to transfer students who have successfully completed college-level
English and mathematics, students whose SAT or Act test scores meet
the minimum Florida State requirements or graduate from high school
with a College-Ready Diploma within the past two years, will not need
to test. Also, students who have already earned an associate or higher
degree from an accredited college or university or individuals who are
non-degree seekers do not require placement testing.
Who must take the Levels of English Proficiency?
- Students whose native language is other than English and who have
not had two or more years of mainstreamed English in an American high
school must take the LOEP.
