New degree-seeking students are required to have test scores to help in proper placement in classes (2002-2003 BCC Catalog, p.40).

The CPT (Computerized Placement Test) is given regularly in the Student Affairs Office, 1st floor in the Downtown Center, free of charge to you, and it determines placement in English, Reading and Basic Algebra. You must bring a picture ID, such as a driver’s license, and your receipt for the $35 admission fee.

APPOINTMENTS FOR TESTING ARE REQUIRED, SO PLEASE CALL 954-201-7491 OR COME BY TO SIGN UP

After you take the CPT, make an appointment for Orientation, where you will learn important information about how BCC can help you achieve your career goals. You also will learn about important BCC policies and your first semester course options. Bring results of your CPT, so we’ll know which classes you need to take.

If you have SAT or ACT scores that are no more than 2 years old, you do not need the CPT. When you attend your Orientation, bring your test scores with you.

If you are a transfer student from another college and have credits in English Composition and math, you may not need the CPT. Make an appointment for Orientation and bring transcripts from your previous college(s). The advisor or counselor may also need to see course descriptions for your previous English and math classes to determine whether you need to take the CPT.
Student Affairs is open Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please let us know how we can assist you.
