1.  Are there any pre requisites to the program?

 

Applicants must fulfill the requirements for admission to Health Science Programs.

A minimum 2.0 degree or high school GPA

Applicants must complete the Pre-Health Core requirements (HCP 0130, CAE 0299, CAE 0382, CAE 0474, and CAE 0476) prior to admission to the program.

 

2. What type of degree do I receive?

 

You will be awarded an Associate of Science degree.

 

3. When does the program start?

 

Once a year in August

 

4. Where and when are classes held?

 

The program is offered in Building 41 on North Campus.

 

5. What is the cost of the program?

6. Are there any other requirements to obtain work?

 

Students need to complete National Certification Exam and State Licensure to work as a License Optician

8. How long is the program?

 

2 years

 

9. Are there part time classes?

 

There are no part time classes

 

10. Are there college credits for the Vision Care Program

 

Yes.

 

11. What is the dress code?

 

Students can dress casual for lecture courses, but must wear medical scrubs for clinic

 

12. Is there help with learning the material?

 

Tutoring sessions are conducted weekly and learning software is available in the Learning Resource Center.

 

13. If I must leave the program, will I be able to return?

 

Students can return to the program if there is an emergency situation.You must return within one year.  Otherwise, you must start over as a new student.

 

14. Is there job placement available?

 

The College will assist in your job search, but cannot guarantee employment.  There are many employers who contact the program manager and advertise locally about employment opportunities.
