This course is designed for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Degree program in Teacher Education. This 9-credit course requires a candidate to demonstrate and apply teaching competencies during an internship in a public school approved by the department. A minimum of 37.5 contact hours per week for 15 weeks are required for internship. Twelve hours of seminar accompanies this course. The purpose of the student teaching internship is for the intern to apply and integrate teaching competencies and responsibilities for teaching students with disabilities in a K12 school setting. The intern will incrementally assume all duties of the mentor teacher in the areas of planning, instruction, management, collaboration and other essential classroom activities.
