Description : 
A survey course in entomology for non-majors. The focus will be on both beneficial and detrimental impacts of insects and related arthropods and their role in the environment. Interactions with man, such as insects as global culture, global mythology, disease factors, agricultural pests, urban pests, indicators of environmental health, pollination and forensic crime solving tools will be given emphasis. Both current and historical global events and their impacts will be examined. The students will be given a non-anthropogenic view and expand their knowledge about the abundance and diversity of the largest group of animals on Earth.
