This lab course provides HIM students an opportunity to apply more advanced concepts and techniques for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding using patient records in both paper and electronic format from different treatment venues. Coding will progress from the less complicated to the more difficult. Students will be guided through the practice of coding by an experienced instructor. Students will be able to assess their own level of proficiency and access assistance in areas of identified coding weaknesses. This class will be taken in conjunction with the Coding 2 course, HIM2232.
