About English Department:
The North Campus English Department has a diverse faculty offering creative and innovative techniques for learning writing and critical thinking skills. We offer a wide range of writing classes from college prep English, to composition, to professional writing, to creative writing, and literature classes in American, British, and World Literature, as well as African-American Literature and the Short Story. If youre looking for something less traditional, youll find Male/Female Images in Lit, Supernatural and Sci Fi, Mystery Fiction, or Film as Literature to your liking. Classes are offered in a variety of formats, including traditional classrooms, electronic classrooms, and online courses.

In support of our offerings, we hold an annual literary festival, The wRites of Spring, which has featured nationally known authors, such as bilingual poet Martin Espada, a National Book Award winner, Edgar Mitchell, author and Apollo XIV astronaut, and Daniel Keyes, author of the American Classic Flowers for Algernon. As part of the festival, we sponsor an annual writing contest that awards prizes for essay, short fiction, and poetry. We also sponsor the Writer's Workshop, a unique club for both students and faculty that encourages aspiring writers.

Whether youre seeking a degree, or honing your skills, or taking literature or creative writing for enjoyment, you will find our award-winning faculty and student-centered approach to teaching just right for you.
