BCC offers 4 well-established Engineering Technology programs, supported by industry and very highly recognized throughout the state of Florida and nationally. BCC's Engineering Programs graduate high-level technicians who find employment in a variety of high-technology corporations throughout the country. From its inception, BCC's Engineering Technology programs have set the standards for electronics education throughout the state.

The Electronics Engineering program has been referred to by the Florida High Technology and Industry Council as "a model program for Electronics Engineering Technology education." The program has also been designated as a Center for Electronics Emphasis by the Florida High Technology and Industry Council. In October 1992 the program received the U.S. Secretary of Education's award for the best technical program in the southeastern region of the United States. The single most contributing factor in the success of our technology programs is the personal interest manifested by the College in general, and the Department in particular, in the educational development of the individual student.

Engineering Technology is the part of the technological field requiring the application of scientific and engineering knowledge and methods combined with technical skills in support of engineering activities. The Department of Engineering Technology offers four majors leading to the Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology degree.

1. ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

2. COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

Option 1: Computer Engineering Technician

Option 2: Computer Networking Specialist

3. TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

4. BIOMEDICAL EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING

TECHNOLOGY Broward Community College Associate of Applied Science Degrees in Engineering Technology is designed for the student interested in the practical application of electronics theory and concept, in preparation for a lucrative future in industry. The technology education is directed toward development of practical operational and production skills and the ability to apply and adapt known solutions and state-of-the-art equipment and systems to current technology problems.

Broward Community Colleges Engineering Technology Program emphasizes the "hands on" approach. All students who major in our Engineering Technology programs receive up-to-date instruction, using modern equipment and facilities in the major areas of communication electronics, industrial electronics, biomedical electronics, and computer electronics from faculty who are experienced and educationally current in these areas.

The department has extensive and well-equipped engineering technology laboratories. These include electronic circuits, digital logic circuits. analog devices. microprocessor communications, telecommunications, networking, biomedical and microcomputer troubleshooting. Fully equipped CAD laboratories are also available. Computer laboratories are also provided for the engineering technology students.

Most facilities are open beyond the normal class periods to allow students to work on class-related projects. Various academic labs provide students with computer-assisted learning in the general education courses.

The North Regional Library is a state-of-the-art facility which contains electronics and computer magazines and books for use by technology students.
