About Cardioresp/Lab Tech Department:
The Respiratory Care program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful Respiratory Care Practitioners. The training is designed to teach our students how to evaluate and treat people with a wide variety of ailments. The majority of our patients have cardiopulmonary illnesses or require life support. Diagnostic studies performed include pulmonary function and stress testing, blood gas analysis and hemodynamic monitoring. We work in all critical care areas of hospitals, including medical, surgical, cardiac, pediatric and neonatal intensive care, emergency and trauma units. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP), through the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC). Graduates qualify for the examinations for Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT), and Perinatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist.
