David Asencio

Teaching Philosophy

David Asencio is a native New Yorker, born and raised in West Harlem. He received his bachelor?s degree in History from Hunter College and a master?s of science in Higher Education Administration from Buffalo State College. David is currently working on his doctorate in Higher Education Administration at Nova Southeastern University. Before assuming his current position as interim Provost for the Central Campus, David served six years as the Dean of Student Affairs at the Davie site (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida). He worked at DePaul University as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Student Development before joining Broward College. David has held numerous positions in higher education and community programs for the past nineteen years including tenures at eight other public universities and community colleges. He has has experience in admissions, advisement/counseling, judicial and multicultural affairs, residence life, student activities (leadership development and programs), and adult/transfer students services. David was recently elected to serve on the board of directors for ASPIRA (Youth Services) of Broward County and the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce.
