Biography Information
Mr. McCawley, holds an M.A. in Photography from Barry University, Miami. He is seeking his MFA in Graphic Design at Florida Atlantic University, expecting completion in 2011. He is currently a Professor of Graphic Design at Broward College, and is the recipient of the, John and James L. Knight Foundation Endowed teaching Chair 2007. Rick Spent 10 years at the Miami Herald as staff a photographer and worked on many well-known national and world events. He was a member of the Pulitzer Prize winning team that covered Hurricane Andrew. He was shot at during the Miami riots of 1980. He photographed the first Shuttle launch for United Press International , and was the first photographer to dive down to the sunken Spanish galleon "Nuestra Senora de Atocha". He has been published in Time, The New York Times, and countless other publications.
