BCC Foundation:
On April 10thHSC members volunteered at the BCC’s Foundation Luncheon. Helping at the luncheon allowed students to witness firsthand the hard work that is done behind the scenes on behalf of BCC students. Foundation members give generously to help students with scholarships. It was a joy to hear the testimonies of students, especially that of Karin Goodwin. She has been a great help to our young organization. HSC members have truly been fortunate in the 20082 term. We have had the opportunity to mingle with some of the best in the BCC family. “Honors” students honor their elders by visiting a nursing home: On April 26th HSC volunteered at the West Broward Nursing Home where we played music and games, and talked with the elderly that lived there. We had a great time and will continue to volunteer there in the future. |
|
For anyone interested in joining HSC, we will be meeting in Building 1 Room 140 (honors room) every Tuesday at 2pm. |

Relay For Life Friday, April 11th was a fulfilling and exciting event. HSC members worked with Phi Theta Kappa to fight against cancer in the 1st annual 2008 American Cancer Society “Relay for Life”. The two teams raised funds at the event with a BBQ, raffle, and selling of cancer awareness memorabilia. We wish to thank all of the members of PTK and HSC, in particular to Kali PTK Vice Pres. of community service and HSC president Albertina Lopez for their hard work and leadership. We also wish to recognize Elizabeth Moore of The American Cancer Society for putting together this wonderful event. |
