Human Behavior in Criminal Justice: CCJ 2191

 ATTENDANCE POLICY

Make sure to sign the Attendance Sheet when it is passed around, otherwise you will be listed as "absent" for the class.  If you are late, you will be permitted to sign in, after class.  Attendance is worth twenty percent (20%) of your overall grade.

 For each hour of class that miss you will lose 1 % point.  Should you only miss 3 hours of class for the entire semester (not class sessions), then you will  still receive the full 20% (no penalty).    If you miss 4 hours, then the first 3 hours will count against you, as well.  If you miss a total of more than 7 hours then I reserve the right to either flunk you for the course, or to give you one letter grade lower than what you earned.

Extenuating circumstances will be discussed and taken into account.  However, minor sickness, accidents & car failure are not extenuating circumstances.  Acceptable circumstances are jury duty (with a subpoena), court subpoenas (does not apply if you are a defendant) and military service (with copies of appropriate orders).

Students are responsible for all announcements and assignments that are given on days that the students may be absent.
Lateness will be applied to the above scale.

                                                                PARTICIPATION

Participation accounts for 30% of the overall grade.
Approximately 2 percnetage points will be given for each "in-class" project (as part of the 30%);
Approximately 1/2 of a point will be given for each film and case study (as part of the 30%);
Projects, films and case studies cannot be made up due to the fluidity of the class;
All remaining points will subjectively be given by the instructor at his discretion based on the students'
    active participation in the class.

                                                             TESTING

Tests will account for 50% of the overall grade.
Tests will be given for each assigned chapter reading.
Tests cannot be made up except for exceptional circumstances as determined by the instructor.  The instructor reserves the right to administer differently formatted make-up tests.
