INTRODUCTION TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE: CCJ 1020
                                                            ATTENDANCE POLICY
Make sure to sign the Attendance Sheet when it is passed around, otherwise you will be listed as "absent" for the class.  If you are late, you will be permitted to sign in, after class.  Attendance is worth ten percent (10%) of your overall grade.

For each hour of class you will lose 1 % point.  Should you only miss 3 hours of class for the entire semester (not class sessions), then you will  still receive the full 10% (no penalty).    If you miss 4 hours, then the first 3 hours will count against you, as well.  If you miss a total of more than 7 hours then I reserve the right to either flunk you for the course, or to give you one letter grade lower than what you earned.

Extenuating circumstances will be discussed and taken into account.  However, minor sickness, accidents & car failure are not extenuating circumstances.  Acceptable circumstances are jury duty (with a subpoena), court subpoenas (does not apply if you are a defendant) and military service (with copies of appropriate orders).

Students are responsible for all announcements and assignments that are given on days that the students may be absent.
Lateness will be applied to the above scale.

PARTICIPATION

Participation accounts for 10% of the overall grade.  The students will earn 3 percentage points (of the 10%) for each of three Article Reviews that they complete.  One Article will address Law Enforcement, one will address the Courts and the third will address Corrections.  No Articles will be accepted in the two week period prior to the Final Exam Schedule.

TESTING

Tests will account for 80% of the overall grade. Only under extreme circumstances, as determined by the instructor, will a Make-up Exam be allowed.  The instructor reserves the right to administer differently formatted make-up examinations.
