ATTENDANCE POLICY

Make sure to sign the Attendance Sheet when it is passed around, otherwise you will be listed as "absent" for the class.  If you are late, you will be permitted to sign in, after class.  Attendance is worth fifteen percent (15%) of your overall grade.

Therefore, if you  miss 1 to 3 hours of class (not class sessions) then

For each hour of class you will lose 1 % point.  Should you only miss 3 hours of class for the entire semester, then you will  still receive the full 10% (no penalty).    If you miss a total of more than 7 hours then I reserve the right to either flunk you for the course, or to give you one letter grade lower than what you earned.

Extenuating circumstances will be discussed and taken into account.  However, minor sickness, accidents & car failure are not extenuating circumstances.  Acceptable circumstances are jury duty (with a subpoena), court subpoenas (does not apply if you are a defendant) and military service (with copies of appropriate orders).

Students are responsible for all announcements and assignments that are given on days that the students may be absent.
Lateness will be applied to the above scale.

                                                                  PARTICIPATION
Participation will account for 20% of the overall grade.  Each film and in-class project will be worth approximately One Percentage point of the 20%.

                                                                        TESTING

Tests will account for 65% of the overall grade.  The Mid-term exam is 35% of this grade and the Final Exam is 30%.
