What is Broward College Apprenticeship Program?

As an "earn and learn" model, apprentices acquire entry-level skills to become qualified professionals within a partner company. Qualified apprentices are selected by employers and paid an entry-level wage while learning on the job with a mentor and attending related technical instructions at Broward College. BENEFITS

  • Cost savings: Hire an apprentice at a percentage of market rate, increase salaries as they gain skills. Contract with BC and save on recruitment costs.
  • Compliance: Let BC handle the registration and reporting required by the Department of Labor and the Florida Department of Education. We will monitor apprentice success on‐the‐job with your assigned supervisor.
  • Retention: Once the apprenticeship is complete, you can permanently hire the apprentice.
  • Diversity: Access a diverse talent base of applicants including underrepresented populations.
  • Training: Apprentices receive front-loaded blocks of training in class and then report to work where they apply what they learn with an assigned mentor on the job. Employers train apprentices with specific skills they need for the success of that organization.
