Changes to Alternative/Private Loans for 2019-2020
Please be advised Alternative/Private Loans will no longer provide coverage of tuition and fees and will not appear on a student's award in myBC. Students expecting to use these loans to cover tuition should make plans to sign up for a tuition payment plan or pay out of pocket to prevent classes from being dropped for non payment.
Any student who applies and is approved for an Alternative/Private Loan for Fall 2019 must have their loan certification request sent to the school prior to September 2019. The Financial Aid Office will process all certification requests received from September 1, 2019 to September 20, 2019. The scheduled disbursement date for all Fall Alternative/Private Loans will be October 4, 2019.
All Alternative/Private Loan requests for Spring 2020 will be processed from January 2, 2020 to January 24, 2020. The scheduled disbursement date for all Spring Alternative/Private Loans will be February 7, 2020.
Students who are enrolled in a late session, (i.e. Session 4) a later processing date will be considered.

Outside Scholarship Checks
If you receive a scholarship that is not awarded by Broward College, please take your scholarship check to the Cashier's Office on the North, South or Central campus. This applies to ALL checks, including those you may receive as result of a scholarship award posted to your account. Do not send any checks to the Financial Aid Office, as the Financial Aid Office does not process checks. Doing so will cause a delay in posting your scholarship award. You must be currently enrolled at Broward College or the Cashier's Office will not accept the check. Please refer to the 'How to Pay' tab on the Cashier's webpage for more information on this process.
Disbursements and Refunds Are Not The Same
Please refer to the
Student Refunds tab on the Cashier's webpage for more information regarding your refund. If you are eligible for a refund, please allow for 7-10 business days after your disbursement date to receive it. Refunds are processed on different dates than the disbursement dates listed below.
