SG is a Student Scholarship Position that allows you to represent Broward College and be the voice of students. Represent BC at local and regional conferences, promote legislative advocacy, strong citizenship, and develop your leadership skills.

Campus Activities Board is a Student Scholarship Position that helps you develop your planning and leadership skills by executing small and large programs for your fellow Seahawks. From cultural events to creating fun and exciting ways for students to engage, 'CAB' will challenge you to bring out the best in your college community.

Student IDs

Student IDs are available in physical form and virtual. The virtual student ID is an official Broward College ID and is accepted everywhere on campus. Obtain your Student ID at one of our Student Life locations or through the Online Photo Submission. There is no charge for your first ID. IDs never expire.

Student Life Learning Themes

Student Life is all about holistic development, meaning we look at all aspects of your well-being when we plan our events. Our programs cover these 6 main learning themes:

Leadership, Inclusion, Service, Wellness, Explore, and Engagement

Engage with key resources on campus at our Welcome Week programs and resource fairs. Learn to Lead and Serve through a student organization, our Leadership in 60 series, and service projects. Be part of our rich and Inclusive culture by participating in our heritage month celebrations throughout the year. We will address both your physical and mental wellbeing through our Wellness programs, and help you Explore your future through career and personal discovery.

Inclusion

Inclusion  programs are designed to expose students to diverse cultures, including global and historical perspectives, as well as give students knowledge and exposure to a wide spectrum of diversity and multicultural issues.

Students will explore their own identity and culture (gender, sexual orientation, racial/ethnic background).

Students will be able to exhibit sensitivity and understanding of other perspectives in a respectful manner. 

Cultural Events

Leadership

Leadership programs are designed to connect students with issues of personal, civic, and social responsibilities.  Through participation in these events, students will develop problem-solving and creative-thinking skills and ethical decision-making.

Students will demonstrate the ability to work with people of varying backgrounds (age, ability, race, gender, sexual orientation)

Students will participate in campus and community events that will encourage servant leadership and a culture of change.

Wellness

Wellness programs are physical and mental well-being programs designed to assist students in maintaining a holistic healthy life through the development of life skills and understanding the impact of balanced lifestyles.

Students will employ strategic help-seeking behaviors and positive coping skills that promote well-being.

Students will engage in behaviors that contribute to personal health and harm reduction. 

Engagement

Engagement programs are designed to connect students with one another, faculty, staff, and college resources through the navigation of college departments, services and other interactive activities.

Students will practice effective communication skills and connect co-curricular experiences with academic lessons.

Students will establish healthy, mutually beneficial relationships with others, and manage interpersonal conflicts effectively. 

Service

Service programs assist students in participating in campus and community events that will encourage servant leadership and a culture of change.

Students will exhibit a commitment to social justice and to being an involved citizen. 

Students will increase personal efficacy, activism, and citizenship skills. 

 

Explore

Explore programs are intentional partnered programs that assist students in their ultimate goals of graduation and/or transferring by exposing them to real world experiences and practitioners.

Students will practice purposeful decision making regarding their future educational, work, and leisure ventures.

Students will develop a better understanding of themselves, including their interests, personality, and strengths
