Your Opinion Counts

Through student focus groups, “Voice of the Student” sessions, and student surveys, we are constantly engaging with students to understand your needs and wants regarding the new Student Information System.

We have used your input to inform the design of the SIS, as well as our plans to support students throughout the transition from MyBC to Banner Student

What we learned...

Some highlights of what students told us

Functional Pain Points

  • Registration takes too much time. It’s difficult to know which classes I need to register for, and I have to go back and forth between tabs to register for the right classes.

Accessibility

  • MyBC is very old and not user-friendly. There are too many tabs, the menu is confusing, it
doesn’t work on my phone, and things like the degree audit are hard to read and understand.
  • We need a clean, simple user interface where everything is clear, easy to navigate and
understand, and it needs to work on my phone.

Transition

  • Students get their information from a wide variety of sources, and we should utilize all
communication channels at our disposal: D2L announcements, Instagram, text, email, etc.
  • Professors are a primary source of information and support. Faculty should be highly
involved during the transition to ensure students are fully supported
