Eligibility
To be eligible to join TRIO SSS Central, students must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Enrollment: Must be enrolled at Broward College
- Need: Must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- First-generation college student
- Low-income individual
- Individuals with a documented disability
Requirements
Students who are accepted and join TRIO SSS Central are required to maintain an "Active Participant" status in the program by completing:
- 3 Coaching Sessions
- 2 Workshops
- 1 Cultural Activity
Students must also remain enrolled in classes at Broward College until graduation.
The benefits of joining TRIO Student Support Services includes having a family that supports you academically and personally, and access to a personal success coach with access to resources. Other benefits are increased chances of graduating, professional development, and a chance to earn more financial aid funding.
A first-generation college student is a student with parents who have not completed a 4-year college/university degree. (Bachelor's degree)
