Collaboration Form

The Center for Teaching Excellence and Learning (CTEL) partners with departments and units across Broward College to support meaningful professional development and classroom experiences for full-time and part-time faculty. Collaborations should align with BC’s Teaching and Learning Excellence Framework and focus on effective strategies that support student learning and instructional excellence. 

Collaborations can include but are not limited to:

  • Partnering on the design and delivery of a new faculty professional development course
  • Invite CTEL to present a teaching and learning topic at my pathway/department meeting
  • Award faculty professional development hours for a non-CTEL course/workshop my department will facilitate/host
  • Offer an immersive technology (XR/VR) experience in my classroom.

Faculty Professional Development Application

The BOT/BC Collective Bargaining Agreement (Article 7.40) outlines that faculty can receive professional development (PD) hours for external workshops, webinars, CEUs, conferences, graduate/undergraduate coursework, exhibitions, performances, and publications.  To record external PD opportunities in the MyLearning transcript, faculty must complete the Faculty Professional Development Application (PDF).

The following sections must be completed:

  • Credit/clock hours requested
  • Date of activity
  • Description of activity
  • How activity contributes to your professional development

Faculty must attach supporting documentation (e.g., certificates of completion, unofficial grade report, conference/workshop registration, etc.). The form must be digitally signed by the faculty member, appropriate supervisor, Academic Dean, and AVP Provost signature/approval.

Faculty Sabbatical Leave Application

Sabbatical leave is intended to encourage and promote the professional development of the Faculty to enhance their instructional effectiveness as educators. Sabbatical leaves enable Faculty to undertake specific planned activities involving academic study, research, curriculum development, and/or creative works that support teaching and learning excellence of mutual benefit to the Faculty and the College.

As outlined in the the BOT/BC Collective Bargaining Agreement (Article 6.30) faculty may apply for Sabbatical Leave via the Faculty Sabbatical Leave Application (PDF).
