Immersive Technology

The Broward College Extended Reality (XR) Institute is a professional development program that equips instructors to integrate XR tools into teaching across disciplines. Combining live, discipline-specific sessions with online resources in D2L, the course emphasizes evidence-based strategies for XR integration. Participants engage in hands-on activities, collaborative discussions, and lesson planning, all aimed at enhancing student learning and staying current with emerging educational technologies.

AI in Teaching and Learning

This series is designed to help faculty explore practical, creative, and responsible ways to integrate AI tools into their teaching. Discover strategies to enhance productivity, foster student engagement, and support innovative learning experiences. The series features hands-on exploration of emerging tools such as Google Notebook LM, MS Copilot, Creating Your Own GPTs, Gems, and Agents, alongside discussions of best practices for ethical and effective AI use in the classroom.

Service Learning

The Service-Learning Project is a faculty-led initiative that integrates academic instruction with meaningful community engagement. Supported by CTEL, this program empowers professors and club advisors to design course-based projects that align with learning objectives while fostering civic responsibility and personal growth. Selected facilitators participate in a Fall institute to collaborate with community partners and develop impactful projects, which are implemented during the Spring semester.

Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL)

The SoTL program is designed to foster a community of excellence and innovation in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities. The program offers funding and professional development opportunities to faculty members passionate about enhancing their teaching practices and improving student outcomes. The project aims to support pedagogical inquiry and promote a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based teaching practices.

ACUE

Through its partnership with ACUE (Association of College and University Educators), the college offers faculty and staff high-quality and research-backed professional learning courses. Through an engaging learning design and guided by expert facilitation, course takers will learn practices that can be implemented with students right away. These evidence-based practices have been shown to increase student retention, strengthen belonging and achievement.

New Faculty Institute (NFI)

The NFI is an five-year program intended to acclimate new continuing contract-eligible Faculty to Broward College’s expectations, norms, and resources as well as to improve instruction. Through a blend of workshops, mentoring, collaborative projects, and reflective practices, participants will gain the tools and strategies needed to enhance student learning and create engaging learning environments.
