Broward College Adult and Community Education courses and programs are offered ongoing throughout the semester. This makes it easy to start or continue pursuing a credential or degree at times convenient for you.
Course and schedule are subject to change without notice based on space and funding availability. Enrollment is on a first-come basis and attendance must be confirmed on the first day of class.
A few things to note:
Students will be required to attend orientation with their assigned CPN, complete a pre-assessment and communicate regularly with their assigned Career Pathway Navigator (CPN). Please be sure to read all course information and requirements.
Orientation will be held at the YMCA for all in-person classes. Your CPN will provide you with details regarding your specific orientation date/time. You will also be required to come to the YMCA for the pre-assessment if your selected course requires an assessment. You MUST attend orientation, even if you have attended previously.
This program is designed to support your academic and career endeavors. Your alignment with a particular pathway is designed to assist you in securing employment or upscaling in your current job. Upon completion of your initial course with us, you will be working with a workforce specialist to assist you with job skills such as your resume, interviewing and other employment related opportunities.
Currently, funding is available for no more than two (2) industry certification courses per student. Once you have reached this maximum, we will work with you to secure employment or to transition to a degree-seeking program.

Description: Gain an understanding of AWS (Amazon Web Services) management console, AWS security measures, storage, and database options. This introductory course will provide a good understanding, in line with AWS syllabus, will help you become familiar with the AWS platform.

Description: This program provides students with the skills and driving experience necessary to thrive in this career by obtaining a nationally recognized, in-demand Commercial Driving License.
This is a CDL Class A, 160 hour, 4-week course, M-F from 7a.m. – 4 p.m.
Prerequisites: High School or GED, DOT Physical, CDL Permit, Driving Record, Driving License, Drug Screening.
Description: In the course, you'll learn the fundamentals you need to prepare for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam (N10-008) and start a career as a network technician. With its comprehensive curriculum, you'll master basic networking concepts and learn about network design, security, routing and switching, cloud computing, IPv6 and forensics, and common security practices. This course utilizes a Network+ lab simulator so you can have the opportunity to have hands-on experience working with networking configurations and troubleshooting instances, a key component to the CompTIA Network+ certification exam. These labs will improve your practical skills in configuring operating systems and network devices as well as better understand the objectives and competencies required by the CompTIA Network+ certification exam.

Description: This course train students in the basics of demand planning so they can quickly familiarize themselves with and become effective contributors to the demand planning processes that are part of SCM. Key elements of this course include aspects of demand planning, interaction between demand and order management, demand planning principles, demand planning tools and techniques, communication and management of demand, and contemporary approaches to demand planning.

Description: This program prepares students to perform EKGs and includes information on the anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography, and stress testing. This comprehensive 50-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the ASPT - Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam and other National Certification Exams. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands-on labs including an introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement, and other clinical practices.

Course modules explain key foundational Six Sigma steps, and DMAIC methodology, and demonstrate how a Six Sigma approach can benefit organizations in varied business sectors. Course assignments support the comprehension of process improvement through exercises involving the history of Six Sigma, Process Variances, Managing Quality, how to begin Six Sigma projects, Organizational Roles and Responsibilities, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) methodology, DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Verify), and Project Communication. Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 or older for most Broward College courses. Healthcare courses require applicants to have completed a high school diploma or GED. Our Adult Education Program can assist you if you have not completed a high school diploma or GED.
Funding: Through grant funding, Broward College offers courses and workshops at no cost to eligible Broward County residents or referred by community partners. Certain restrictions apply.
Other internal and external funding opportunities may be available for eligible students outside these areas. The Career Pathway Navigator team assists students with determining available opportunities.
