BROWARD COLLEGE ADULT & COMMUNITY EDUCATION COURSES

Broward College Adult and Community Education courses and programs are offered ongoing throughout the semester. This makes it easy to start or continue pursuing a credential or degree at times convenient for you.

Course and schedule are subject to change without notice based on space and funding availability. Enrollment is on a first-come basis and attendance must be confirmed on the first day of class.

A few things to note:

  • All students must have a High School Diploma or GED Transcript on file with the college in order to be eligible to take a Continuing Education course
  • Everyone must attend orientation, even if you have attended an orientation previously.
  • You must complete the course pre-assessment if applicable. 70% is the baseline score for enrollment in a course. Alternative or prerequisite courses maybe offered to those scoring less than 70%. Considerations will be made for students working directly in the field that they are looking to complete the certification. Previous courses will also be considered.
  • If you have previously taken a course with us, and there is an attached industry certification, you will need to complete the certification before being enrolled in an additional course. Student sessions and test preparation opportunities will be available. Completion of the test prep sessions will be required to receive a test voucher.
  • All students who have completed at least one course and passed the industry certification will be enrolled and must complete the Florida Ready to Work Soft Skills course in order to enroll in additional ACE courses.
  • Your CPN will be in touch with you throughout your journey. You will need to be responsive to meeting requests as well as requests for information/updates regarding your progress in your selected course.

Students will be required to attend orientation with their assigned CPN, complete a pre-assessment and communicate regularly with their assigned Career Pathway Navigator (CPN). Please be sure to read all course information and requirements.

Orientation will be held at the YMCA for all in-person classes. Your CPN will provide you with details regarding your specific orientation date/time. You will also be required to come to the YMCA for the pre-assessment if your selected course requires an assessment. You MUST attend orientation, even if you have attended previously.

This program is designed to support your academic and career endeavors. Your alignment with a particular pathway is designed to assist you in securing employment or upscaling in your current job. Upon completion of your initial course with us, you will be working with a workforce specialist to assist you with job skills such as your resume, interviewing and other employment related opportunities.

Currently, funding is available for no more than two (2) industry certification courses per student. Once you have reached this maximum, we will work with you to secure employment or to transition to a degree-seeking program.
