MANDATORY IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS

Course Description: This program prepares students to perform EKGs and includes information on the anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography, and stress testing. This comprehensive 50-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the ASPT - Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam and other National Certification Exams. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands-on labs including an introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement, and other clinical practices.

Course Description: This course is a continuation of our Six Sigma series: Learn Six Sigma GREEN concepts, strategies, tools, and techniques used in process improvement projects. Course modules explain key foundational Six Sigma steps, DMAIC methodology, and demonstrates how a Six Sigma approach can benefit organizations in varied business sectors. Broward UP Eligibility and Funding

Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 or older for most Broward UP courses. Healthcare courses require applicants to have completed a high school diploma or GED. Our Adult Education Program can assist you if you have not completed a high school diploma or GED.

Funding: Through grant funding, Broward UP offers free courses and workshops to qualifying students who reside in the following zip codes: 33309, 33311, 33313, 33314, 33319, 33023, 33020, 33069, 33064, 33441, and 33065, and those referred by community partners. Certain restrictions apply.

Other internal and external funding opportunities may be available for eligible students outside these areas. The Career Pathway Navigator team assists students with determining available opportunities.
