Substitute Teacher Training and Teacher Education Programs

Seeking ways to enter the educational environment to become a teacher? Broward College in partnership with Broward County Public Schools offers the Substitute Teacher Training Program. Our program addresses the need for quality substitutes in the absence of the teacher in Broward County.    


Training completion is not a guarantee of employment as a substitute teacher. All requirements must be fulfilled, including security clearance, in order to be processed for employment with Broward County Public Schools.

 Attention: 
You must complete this training before applying as a Substitute Teacher for Broward County. Please contact the Sub Central Help Desk at 754-321-2340 for any questions or concerns, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 p.m. 
You must be registered and pay before attending the first class.  
 
Attendance is required for all classes for the section your are registered.  You must be on time.  No provision is made for making up a missed class.  For audit purposes, You may not switch class sections.  

Participation is required by the participants and the instructor may choose not to issue a certificate due for unsatisfactory performance.

When you register please reflect your current address and residence information.   Please note that a certificate will be issued in the name which reflects your registration. 

If you are a former student and have had a name change please visit a campus admissions office with your marriage certificate or relevant documents to reflect your current name.


This course prepares participants to master the concepts of the four Math domains assessed on the General Knowledge Exam (number sense, concepts, and operations, geometry and measurement, algebra, and data analysis and probability). 

This course prepares participants to master the concepts of the three English domains assessed on the General Knowledge Exam (language structure, vocabulary application, and Standard English conventions). 

This course prepares participants to master the concepts of the three Reading domains assessed on the General Knowledge Exam (key ideas and details based on text selections, craft and structure based on text selections, and integration of information and ideas based on text selections). 

This course prepares participants to master the concepts of the three Essay domains assessed on the General Knowledge Exam (purpose of writing, introducing a topic, and formulating a relevant thesis, organizing ideas, providing textual evidence, and using transitional devices, and maintaining a consistent point of view, applying conventions, and providing concluding statements that support the argument presented). 

This course prepares participants to master the concepts assessed on the Professional Educator Exam.  


Mandatory Registration information: Child Care Registration Steps 

 
The 40 Hour Child Care Certification Program provides the training required, by law, to work in a child care center or Family Child Care Home in the state of Florida. The Introductory Child Care Training is divided into two parts for a total of 40 hours: 30 Hours Introduction to Child Care and one additional 10-hour course.

​​All child care personnel are required to 
complete the following 30-clock-hours which are re divided into five training modules:

• Rules Regulations for Child Care Facilities 
• Child Abuse Neglect 
• Health, Safety Nutrition 
• Child Growth and Development 
• Behavioral Observation and Screening
