Paid Part-time peer mentor positions are available to eligible Broward College students who meet the AmeriCorps and the program eligibility criteria. Read the Become a Peer Leader section below before applying.
Peer Leaders serve current Broward College students by providing mentorship, resource connection, and general support to model student success. Our Peer Leaders can support you each step of the way as you work towards completing your degree and reaching your educational goals. Peer Leaders are Broward College students just like you trained in leadership and mentoring skills.

Scholarship Opportunities

The Greenwald Leadership scholarships are available to eligible currently enrolled and degree-seeking Full-Time and Part-Time students (mentees) actively participating in the Peer Mentoring program. This scholarship is provided in partnership with PeerForward and the Broward College Foundation and is sponsored by the Greenwald Foundation.
Scholarship Amount: $500-$750
Frequency: Once per term | Award terms: Summer 2024, Fall 2024 & Spring 2025

Eligibility Criteria:
Be an active mentee in Broward College’s Peer Mentoring program: Students must have met with their Peer Leader Mentor and have successful mentoring sessions for at least 1 full semester.
Be at minimum at the 50% program or degree completion benchmark
Be in good academic standing
Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits (part-time).
Have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Submit the correct Broward College Scholarship Application Form for the current term. You must select that you are a member of the"PeerForward/Peer Mentoring Program"on the application.

Youth Transformation Foundation – Peer Mentoring International Student Scholarship
The Youth Transformation Foundation (YTF) - Peer Mentoring International Student scholarship is awarded to up to two (2) eligible “international” students of the peer mentoring program at Broward College. To learn more about the Youth Transformation Foundation, please click here.

Eligibility Criteria
Be an eligible international student with an F-1/M-1 visa or similar eligible visa.
Have a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) minimum at the time of the application.
Have completed at least 12 credits at Broward College before submitting the scholarship application.
Be a currently enrolled and degree-seeking international student (F1/M1) at Broward College.
Be a currently active student mentee in Broward College’s Peer Mentoring Program. An active mentee must meet with paired peer mentors regularly and at least twice a month.
Provide at least 1 recommendation letter.
Must Submit the YTF- Peer Mentoring International Student Scholarshipapplication form by the deadline.
POST AWARD REQUIREMENTS
Scholarship winners must be able to provide and participate in the following:
Provide a Short Biography (500 words or less)
Provide a Professional headshot (photo)
Provide relevant (signed) consent forms.
Attend the Peer Mentoring Program Exit Meeting to receive the award (July 19 – Broward College Campus Location; TBA)
Commit to participate in a 2025 Youth Transformation Foundation event (TBA-2025)
Our AmeriCorps Peer Mentoring Program operates from September 1st until July 31st every year. For new hires, fall positions begin on September 1st.
Recruitment Timeline Our program recruitment efforts to fill positions for a new year of service begin in the Summer term to fill our available peer mentor positions starting on 9/1 every year. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications by June 30th for a position starting in the Fall term.

The most successful Peer Leaders are members who possess the following qualities:
Academic Preparation: Potential Peer Leaders are students that will be enrolling for the upcoming year or recently graduated from BC and have demonstrated academic persistence, or are familiar with the Broward College student needs, services, and challenges.
Social Capital: Potential Peer Leaders are influential among their peers and have the capacity to work well with others.
Personal Leadership Potential: Potential Peer Leaders have demonstrated the capacity for leadership and have personal tenacity or grit.
Capacity to Create Change: Potential Peer Leaders are positioned to make the most change in their community.
In addition to the qualities above, the ideal candidate must meet the following eligibility requirements:
At a minimum, members must be current Broward College students in good academic standing (2.5 GPA or higher) who have completed a minimum of 12 credits (full-time) or 6 credits (part-time) or recent alumni. Exceptions will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
Member must be at least 18 years old. Exceptions will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
Members must pass a National Criminal History Background check, including a drug screen, an FBI background check via fingerprints, a local background check, and their name run through the National Sex Offender database (www.nsopw.gov). This is contingent on any member beginning their service year.
Members must be able to successfully complete Broward College and AmeriCorps’ onboarding requirements, including successfully completing their I-9 verification prior to their first day of service.
Member must be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
The Service Gear provided to the Member will always be worn during service per the uniform policy.
The Member will serve under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, Program Director, Program Associate, and Site Supervisor(s) designated at college campuses or service sites.
The member may not hold a full-time or part-time regular position at Broward College.
The member must be able to successfully participate in the application and onboarding processes
Please note: An AmeriCorps Peer Leader may not hold a paid part-time or full-time position at Broward College while serving in the peer mentoring program and receiving AmeriCorps benefits.
The Peer Mentoring program has over 100 paid part-time AmeriCorps positions available every year for eligible candidates. These student mentorship positions are called "Peer Leaders.
Peer Leaders (mentors) serve on the three main Broward College campuses: North Campus (Coconut Creek), Central Campus (Davie), and South Campus (Pembroke Pines). The positions require candidates to serve 100% on campus and in person.
These AmeriCorps positions start in the Fall Semester and require a 1-year commitment until July 31 in the Summer.
Additional Position Expectations:
Attend a mandatory 2 or 3 day Fall Orientation and training and a Spring Training
Complete the minimum position hours requirement by July 31
Hold regular Peer Mentoring sessions in person and virtually
Submit all reporting and grant required documents by program deadlines
Meet program Volunteerism requirements
Support all program activities, events, and partnerships
Work in a TEAM and actively collaborate with peers and program staff to achieve program goals
Be able to commit to 1 year of service (Fall until Summer)
Have or be willing to develop excellent communication and leadership skills
Be accountable to position duties, code of conduct, and tasks
Attend and actively participate in monthly team meetings
Have excellent customer service skills
Be Willing to model student success
Be a " Peer Leader" able to model student success
Be an active participant ready to serve, share resources and grow professionally
Be willing to learn and engage in a dynamic environment
Be able to complete program mandatory trainings by established deadlines
Complete other duties as assigned

Three Quarters Time - Lead Peer Leader
Requires a minimum of 1200 hrs for the service year
Serves as Campus Team Non-Supervisory Lead
Supports the Program Mentoring Coordinator and Director
Leads Campus Team Success Goals
Co-mentors team members
Provides peer-to-peer mentoring to a group of up to 15 student mentees
Leads Community Service efforts
Serves in Campus campaigns such as mentees recruitment and more
Reduced Half Time - Peer Leader
Requires a minimum of 675 hrs for the service year
Serves in a Campus Team of Peer Leaders
Supports the Program Mentoring Coordinator and Director
Supports Campus Team Success Goals
Provides peer-to-peer mentoring to a group of up to 15 student mentees
Serves in Community Service efforts
Serves in Campus campaigns such as mentees recruitment and more
Quarter Time - Peer Leader
Requires a minimum of 450 hrs for the service year
Serves in a Campus Team of Peer Leaders
Supports the Program Mentoring Coordinator and Director
Supports Campus Team Success Goals
Provides peer-to-peer mentoring to a group of up to 15 student mentees
Serves in Community Service efforts
Serves in Campus campaigns such as mentees recruitment and more
