Health Science Admissions Steps

Follow these steps to begin the health science admissions process.

Health science program applicants should review our programs' admissions selection criteria before proceeding with the program application process.

Health science programs, whether they are limited access or open enrollment, have specific pre-requisites that must be completed prior to submitting the application for consideration in the applied program.

Program pre-requisites may include the satisfaction of courses, academic testing (e.g. HESI), licenses and certifications, or prior work experience.

All courses taken as part of a health science limited access program's pre-requisites must be completed with a 'C' or higher with grades officially posted on the student's record on or prior to a health science limited access program's application period deadline. Requirements completed after a health science limited access program's application period deadline will not be accepted and will not be used to award application points. Please review the academic calendar for more information regarding term durations and grade postings.

If Broward College is the ONLY college where you have earned college credits, no further action is required for this step.

Request that your official college transcripts from other institutions you have attended be sent to a Broward College campus or mailed to the Registrar's Office:

College Registrar's Office
4205 Bonaventure Blvd.
Weston, FL 33332

All official transcripts must be received and evaluated to determine that the required program pre-requisites are complete. Available academic records are reviewed to make admission decisions.

Students with courses taken at universities outside of the United States and under a non-U.S. educational system must have their transcripts officially translated into English and commercially evaluated prior to submitting the application.

BC only accepts official commercial evaluations performed by a NACES member. In addition, BC only accepts official certified translations from a NACES member or from an organization certified by the ATA.

BC limited access health science programs do NOT allow transfer credits for core courses. Core courses are program-specific courses, such as those earned from Nursing program courses. All BC limited access health science program core courses must be taken at BC, only. However, general education credits, such as those earned from Math or Humanities courses, may be transferable, depending on the transfer institution. Refer to the BC Transfer Equivalency Service (TES) or contact an academic advisor for more information regarding course transferability.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For students who are applying to Broward College for the first time, and have transfer credits, it is recommended that all documentation be sent at least seven (7) business days prior to the close of the published application period for the program to which you are applying. This will help ensure you will be considered for the upcoming term of that program.

Once you have reviewed the admissions selection criteria and determined that you are eligible for your desired health science program, you may submit a Broward College application.

Limited-Access Program Applications: Once the student applies to a limited-access health science program, BC Health Science Admissions staff will evaluate the application and assess the applicant's eligibility for the program to which they applied. Program eligibility for limited-access programs is determined by the satisfaction of pre-requisites prior to applying, as well as the program application being submitted during the program's application period. Health Science program limited-access applications submitted outside their prescribed application periods will not be considered. The Health Science Admissions team then applies the program's point system to each application. Once program eligibility is confirmed, each criterion for awarding  points within the application is evaluated based on the program's respective point system.

Open-Enrollment Program Applications: Once the student applies to a BC open-enrollment health science program, BC Health Science Admissions staff will determine their eligibility for the program to which they applied. Program eligibility is determined by the completion of program pre-requisites.

When the program evaluation is completed by the Health Sciences Admissions team, the applicant can review their earned application points and/or satisfaction of pre-requisites.
