A higher education course attempted three or more times is considered a third attempt (3rd attempt). Broward College charges a higher tuition rate for 3rd attempt courses. The cost of a 3rd attempt course is calculated using the average of the relevant System Totals taken from the Florida Department of Education 2017 Factbook, tab 7.7T of the Florida College System 2015-16 Annual Cost Analysis Cost per Credit Hour.

Advanced & Professional Upper Level: 216
Advanced & Profession Lower Level: 185
Post-Secondary Vocational: 275
Developmental Education: 248
Educator Preparation Institute: 222
Post-Secondary Adult Vocation: 325
Average: 245.17
1471/6=245.17

In-state on-campus or online tuition fee is charged at a rate of $245.17 per credit hour for courses taken three or more times (3rd attempt). However, the on-campus out-of-state tuition fee per credit hour remains unchanged for courses taken less than or more than three times. Third attempt tuition for out-of-state online course includes the per credit hour 'Out-of-State Tuition Fee,' which is the difference between the in-state 3rd attempt per credit hour fee and the total of the in-state per credit hour tuition fee plus the differential per credit hour tuition fee. Consequently, this information is applicable to both lower and upper-level courses. >

$245.17 – ($82.00 + $104.00) = $59.17 >>

* Resident status, for tuition purposes, is defined by Florida Statutes 1009.21 and determined by the Registrar's Office upon admission to the College. Students who qualify for a new resident status can apply for a change prior to the first day of the term.
^ Online courses are not charged a parking fee of $4.00 per credit hour but are charged a $9.00 per credit hour distance learning fee.
** College Prep courses for out-of-state students will be charged at the on-campus rate.
> Calculation is based on the 2017 Factbook and BC tuition cost and fees for the academic year 2019-20
>> Calculation for 3rd attempt tuition reflects the out-of-state fee for a lower-level course
