​​Broward College’s Music curriculum focuses on helping you develop a wide array of skills as a musician, and prepares you for entry into a four-year postsecondary institution if you wish to pursue your bachelor’s degree in Music. Many of our graduates have been accepted to widely acclaimed university music programs, most notably at Berklee College of Music, Florida State University and the University of Florida. 

Our curriculum for Music majors will give you a solid foundation in:
  • Reading music
  • Music theory
  • Music history
  • Applied music
  • Ear training
Declared Music majors are required to submit to an audition process at the beginning of their studies.

Broward College’s Music program consists of faculty members who are graduates of the University of Miami, Florida State University and Hofstra University, to name but a few. They have contributed their musical skills to such artists as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Boys II Men and the Miami Philharmonic Orchestra, New Philharmonic Orchestra and Florida Chamber Orchestra. Musical and opera productions our faculty has been involved in include “The Sound of Music,” “La Boheme,” and “Aida.” Some faculty have also been recipients of the John F. Kennedy Award of Excellence, the Broward College Provost Award, in addition to placing in the top at several national competitions. Their collective professional experience as musicians offers valuable mentoring opportunities and guidance to our Music program.

​​Broward College is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) to award associate’s degrees in Music.  

The Music program is also an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

Performances are held at Bailey Concert Hall on A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie, Florida.

Broward College welcomes community members to participate in the Symphonic Band, the Symphony orchestra and the Broward Choral Society. An audition is required. Please contact the Music Department for more information.
