Human Resources - Temporary Employment Pool

For budgetary saving purposes, the Human Resources Division has implemented a pilot Temporary Employment Pool (TEP) to assist departments in meeting short-term temporary clerical/administrative support services for technical staff positions.

The Temporary Employment Pool (TEP) is an in-house staffing agency/program designed to significantly reduce the cost incurred by using external staffing agencies. The TEP is managed by the Recruitment and Outreach Unit within Human Resources under the direction of Nicki Anderson, District Director for Recruitment, Outreach, and Records. The pool will maintain qualified and talented applicants to serve the short-term temporary needs of the College during seasonal/peak periods, vacations or leave of absences, and other types of short-term vacancies.

 

The Recruitment and Outreach Unit will partner with departments to meet their staffing needs by screening the applicants and processing the new hire paperwork. The screening process includes interviewing, reference checks, pre-employment background checks and skills-based test, if applicable, to the job. We will then be able to provide you with viable applicants on short notice to meet your needs.

Program Benefits

• Ability to hire qualified staff for part-time temporary positions to bridge short term staffing needs at a reduced rate.
• Reduce commission fees charged by the staffing agencies.
• Tailor-made recruitment efforts to meet the needs of the department.
• Greater accountability through internally pre-screened, interviews, background/reference checks and skills testing, if applicable, will be conducted by the Human Resources, Recruitment Unit.
• Candidates will be placed based on their skills and experience in the field.
• The turnaround time for submitting resumes or sending a temporary employee to the department is 24–48 hours depending on the complexity of the skills requested.
