What’s in a name? BCC to become Broward College - The name change will follow the Florida Board of Education’s approval of BCC’s application to offer Bachelor of Science in Education degrees. BCC plans to offer teaching concentrations in five areas: middle grades mathematics, middle grades general science, secondary biology, secondary mathematics and exceptional student education.

Director of BCC Bookstores elected trustee of national association
George G. Masforroll, director of bookstores at BCC, has been elected to serve on the board of trustees of the National Association of College Stores (NACS), the professional trade association representing the higher education retailing industry.

Colleague Recognition ceremony is a highlight of Professional Development Day -  There were 131 people honored on Feb. 22nd for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service to the school. All of the honorees were called up to the stage, presented with a special pin and posed together for a group shot.

Looking good: BCC team stands out in  Corporate Run
BCC’s 42-member team, wearing specially designed T-shirts, participated in the April 3rd Mercedes-Benz Corporate run among a crowd of 4,385 men, women and youngsters at Huizenga Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Nightingale chosen to compete for FACC professor of the year
Dr. Barbra Nightingale, professor of English on BCC’s Judson A. Samuels South Campus has been chosen to compete for the title of FACC (Florida Association of Community Colleges) Professor of the Year.

Professional Development Day offers many opportunities

There was ample opportunity for fun, camaraderie, and serious learning during the all-day event, held on Feb. 22 on the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie. Dozens of workshops and classes were offered, as well as academic discipline and division meetings and general open sessions.
