S. (Sean) Madison


Dr. S. Sean Madison is the Campus President of the Judson A. Samuels South Campus at Broward College. Prior to his appointment at Broward College, he served 17 years in a variety of positions at Miami Dade College. These positions have included tenured English faculty member, Chairperson for English composition and college preparatory studies, Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and District-wide Director of learning outcomes assessment.

Throughout Dr. Madison's career in higher education, he has led a number of student success initiatives in academic and learning support. In his role as a department chairperson, he initiated and led accelerated and blended learning options for students enrolled in developmental education coursework and successfully implemented a number of research-based, best practices in academic lab support.

One noteworthy accomplishment in his role as a dean was Dr. Madison's creativity and leadership in the acquisition of resources to fund the ¡Viva El Éxito! Student Success Initiative (VESSI) at Miami Dade College. Issued in 2005, the Title V grant totaled $2.25 million, or $450,000 per year for five years, and provided access to a quality education through strategic high school outreach, community partnerships and learner-centered initiatives that promoted retention and success among first-year college students.

In addition to his work in education, Dr. Madison also is active in the community through the 100 Black Men of South Florida, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and other organizations.

Dr. Madison earned his baccalaureate degree in literature and English from Morehouse College, his master's degree in English from Boston University and his doctorate in higher education administration from Florida International University.
