Wildflower Week: April 21-25 MAR2008



Calling all poets, artists, graphic designers and webmasters….


To celebrate the wildflower project at BCC, “Florida’s Wildflowers, Learning from the Landscape," beds of native wildflowers have been planted on BCC’s campuses to add beauty to our native landscapes.

To celebrate our initial plantings, Wildflower Week will be held April 21 – 25


All currently registered and qualified students may enter the poetry, art, or poster contests described in the links below:

Wildflower beds that students can use for inspirations for their contest entries may be found at the:


Judson A. Samuels South Campus: The median between Bldg. 68 and the lake.

A. Hugh Adams Central Campus: Southwest corner of Bldg. 15.

North Campus: South side of Bldg. 46 in front of Admissions; north side of Bldg. 46 along sidewalk leading to Bldg. 47; West Perimeter Rd. in front of entrance sign; butterfly garden on east side of Bldg. 57, and base of stairs on SW side of Bldg. 49.


Additional wildflower plantings and seeding of wildflower meadows will take place through the spring, summer and fall. There are many opportunities for classes and individuals to become involved in transforming our landscape. Look for upcoming workshop announcements.

HELP WANTED: A student Webmaster is needed to post wildflower resources, photos of wildflowers blooming throughout our campuses, photos of class projects, work of the wildflower stewards, creative works submitted by students for wildflower contests, and to update wildflower project workshop and activity schedules. The student will be trained to use WAM software to create and update the web site. Student must have training and experience with web design, be dependable, take initiative, be creative and demonstrate good critical thinking skills. Anticipated wage is $7 - $9 / hour depending on qualifications. We are looking for a student who would be available during the summer (approximately 50 hours) and fall (approximately 35 hours) terms.
