About the Profession

The unique,non-traditional "1 + 1 Dental Hygiene Program" at BCC prepares you for maximum career opportunities. Graduates of the program enter the field as dually trained professional dental auxiliaries. By successfully completing this program, you become a Certified Dental Assistant and a Registered Dental Hygienist.

  • Over 95% of BCC students completing this program pass the Dental Hygiene National Board Examination.
  • Over 95% of BCC students completing this program obtain Florida state licensure.
  • One of the only programs in the United States where you become both a Certified Dental Assistant and a Registered Dental Hygienist.
  • Recognized by the Commission on Dental Acceditation of the American Dental Association, a specialized accrediting body approved by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and by the United States Department of Education.
  • Provides certification in the state of Florida expanded duties, including radiography. Clinical training takes place in our on-campus dental clinic and in community-based health facilities.

Dental Assisting: There is a huge communtiy demand for dental assisting so employment opportunities are plentiful. After graduation you have the option of going into private practice, continuing with your education for an AS in Dental Hygiene or an AS in Health Services Management.
