History: Alpha Eta Rho, the International Aviation Fraternity, was formed at the University of Southern California in 1929. The fraternity serves as a contact between the aviation industry and educational institutions. The Greek letters AHP stand for AIR, and came into being to fulfill a definite need of the time. Enrollment in aviation at this time was rather large, and faculty members as well as students were voicing the need for extracurricular activity while promoting and organizing an interest in aviation. Earl W. Hill, who was teaching aviation at S.C. with other faculty members, organized on April 10, 1929. There are approximately seventy chapters of Alpha Eta Rho at colleges and universities in the United States. BCC¿s chapter, Eta Pi, was established in 1980.
