1. Please review the information on each page of the application, and fill out the application completely. Complete the application, sign, date, and include the following requirements. 2. Attach an official certified copy of a high school diploma or its equivalent, a GED or, for the British education system, four academic passes on the GCE, CXC, BGCSE, WAEC, WASC, OR HKCE exams in general proficiency. Secondary school diplomas do not have to be translated to English with the exception of Hebrew, Arabic, or Asian. All applicants must have the equivalent of a United States high school diploma and college preparatory program.
3. Official transcripts are required from all universities attended. If a student has attended a university outside the U.S., please attach an official certified copy of the original documents in the language of your country, along with an official translation from a certified translation company. University transcripts must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or its equivalent. Students applying for the English Language Program are not required to submit university transcripts.
Please note: All copies of education records from outside the U.S. must be certified by either the U.S. Consulate or the Ministry of Education in your native country. We will accept original documents, take copies, and return originals to students at their request. After one term, we cannot guarantee the return of original documents.
4. You are required to provide evidence of financial support. Sponsors are required to complete the Confidential Financial Statement on the application (page 3). In addition, the sponsor must provide a bank statement or letter showing a minimum balance of $22,500. Broward College does not provide or recommend housing. 5. If applying for a degree program, and English is your second language, attach proof of English proficiency. Broward College requires the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test, 220 on the computer- based test, or 79 on the internet- based test. We will also accept the IELTS test with a minimum score of 5.5. If you are in the U.S., you may take the Broward College English Placement Test (LOEP), which includes a writing sample, in place of the TOEFL or IELTS. Placement testing will be administered only after the application has been submitted and the application fee has been paid. If applying for the English Language Program, the TOEFL or IELTS is not required.
Please note: All international students, regardless of their TOEFL or IELTS scores, will be required to take the LOEP once admitted to the college. In addition, students who are degree seeking, who do not place into college level English on their LOEP test, will be required to take English as a Second Language (ESL) courses which will not apply towards a degree. All ESL classes must be completed before starting a degree program.
6. Attach a $75 U.S. non-refundable check or money order for payment of the application fee.
7. If you are currently in the U.S., please attach a copy of your I-94 card.
8. If you are transferring from a school within the United States, please attach a copy of your current I-20.
