Career Path
In December 2011, the RN-BSN program graduated 22 of 30 students. Research has show that registered nurses who obtain a bachelor’s degree are more likely to be hired into leadership and clinical education roles in various health care facilities. This will become a requirement for these positions as early as 2020, according to the Institute of Medicine report. The bachelor’s degree is a stepping stone to master’s and doctoral level degrees and advanced nursing practice.
No matter where you are in the world, health care services will always be needed. The job opportunities for registered nurses and R.N.s with bachelor’s degrees are expected to be excellent in the coming years, according to the federal government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Welcome Note from the Associate Dean
I bring greetings to all registered nurses interested in applying to our RN-BSN program. I would like to present a few of Broward College’s RN-BSN program highlights: The program provides a workforce-driven baccalaureate in nursing degree for professional nurses with the knowledge, abilities, and skills to provide and promote complex quality health care to diverse multicultural populations within our global environment.
The attainment of this degree will result in opportunities for professional nursing employment in a variety of settings and the chance for first-time management nursing positions.
Because South Florida is a global and culturally diverse community, the RN-BSN program is designed to incorporate knowledge and skills with global nursing practice that will benefit diverse communities here and abroad.
The RN-BSN program focuses on enriching the education of nursing students, using and contributing to global nursing initiatives, encouraging culturally competent nursing practice projects, and coordinating global service outreach efforts.
The RN-BSN program has been designed with a high degree of flexibility to build upon the current career ladder programs in nursing.
The RN-BSN program faculty and staff are committed to improving the health of multi-ethnic populations and advancing professional practice.
In partnership with others, the program provides nursing education and practical experiences to advance the health of residents of South Florida and to strengthen the global capacity of nurses to improve the health of vulnerable people
Second, in support of the mission and philosophy of the RN-BSN program, we are committed to achieving student success by preparing a professional and competent nurse who is able to practice in a dynamic health care environment across communities, populations, and life-spans; providing leadership to promote and improve global health; is committed to the advancement of nursing knowledge and practice, celebrates diversity, and aspires to lifelong learning and achievement.
