Established in 1972, Broward College's Institute of Public Safety (IPS), formally known as the Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) has proudly served for five decades as a premier training center, evidenced by the exceptional caliber of public servants safeguarding Broward County and the State of Florida.
 
As a certified Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) / Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) Training Center for Region 13, IPS delivers essential fundamental training and advanced professional development for criminal justice officers with over 20,000 Law Enforcement professionals graduating the Academy seen its inception.  Our comprehensive Associate's degree programs include Criminal Justice and Crime Scene Technology, equipping students with the foundational knowledge for successful careers. Along with robust Certificates in Criminal Justice Technology and Homeland Security.
 
Our multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art facility provides both virtual and realistic training environments meticulously designed for optimal educational and professional advancement. IPS offers an innovative and high-quality workforce education through a strategic blend of online coursework, intensive hands-on instruction, and cutting-edge training methodologies. About Public Safety

The Institute of Public Safety and the Criminal Justice Testing Center will be closed on:

  • November 26-28, 2025 (Thanksgiving Break)
  • December 22-31, 2025 (Winter Break)
  • January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day)
  • January 19, 2026 (MLK Birthday)
  • March 2-6, 2026 (Spring Break)
  • May 25, 2026 (Memorial Day)
  • June 19, 2026 (Juneteenth)
