Advanced Training for Office Leaders
 
Today’s office environments are more technologically advanced than ever before. More office environments depend on tech-savvy personnel to keep daily operations running smoothly.  At Broward College, we are committed to preparing you for the challenges of busy corporate, medical and small business environments.
 
The Office Administration programs at Broward College are varied, and include four certificate and four associate degree programs. We train you to specialize in one of two administrative settings:
  • Office Administration 
  • Medical Administration

Classroom Experience

Office Administration tracks will immerse you in today’s best office practices for any organization, whether it’s the headquarters of a national conglomerate or a small non-profit office. Hands-on training focuses on:

  • Keyboard and typing proficiency
  • Basic functions of accounting, spreadsheets and data processing
  • Fundamentals of collecting, analyzing and summarizing financial data
  • Relevant computer programs and software, including common Microsoft Office programs
The program uses current industry software and state-of-the-art labs and resources to get you as job ready as possible. Class sizes are small and personalized with up to 25 students enrolled in each class. There is even the option to take all of your classes online if you are currently working full or part time.
 
All faculty use current and up-to-date materials and examples in the classroom, along with their own experiences of working in office administration settings. The broad skill set we teach can be applied to any workplace.

Career Path

Efficient, highly organized individuals who assist with administrative office tasks are required in every organization, from corporate headquarters to universities to small offices. The job outlook for office administrators will be steady for the next decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

 
 
Graduates of the Office Administration program may seek entry-level positions in business offices in a variety of industries. If students specialize medical office administration, they may find work with health care facilities. Students with general studies in office administration may consider careers, such as:
  • Secretary
  • Office manager
  • Medical office assistant
  • Administrative assistant
Is This Program Right for Me?

Taking care of an office’s day-to-day business is more intensive in today’s office environments. The best candidates for this program are:

  • Organized
  • Able to multitask
  • Customer orientated
  • Able to work as part of a team
To apply to the program, you should have a high school diploma or GED.
Accreditation
All Office Administration programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS) to award associate’s degrees.
Faculty
All faculty have at least a master’s degree in Business, Education or a combination of the two. Our faculty attended various universities around the country including Penn State, Nova Southeastern and University of New York. All instructors have worked in business and industry, and bring real-world experience to the classroom.

Courses

Full-time associate’s degree-seeking students can expect to complete all courses for the AAS tracks in two years. Completion of the certificate programs generally takes semesters.

Since our program was designed for maximum flexibility, you can choose whether to do the program completely online or on the North or South campuses.

 
For Alumni
Have you already graduated from the Office Administration program with a certificate or degree? Looking for more career advancement opportunities? Many of our graduates have gone on to pursue their bachelor’s degree in Supervision and Management.
