AS in Physical Therapist Assistant
May 2020 Application Criteria:
- Points will be awarded in several categories including completion of general education courses, however, there are no courses required prior to submitting Limited Access Application. The more points accrued, the greater the chance of getting into the program.
- All students selected for admission must successfully complete a required medical history and physical examination, fingerprinting, background check, and drug screening Information about these requirements will be provided at the Program pre-admission meeting.
- For exploratory students unsure of which Health Science program to pursue, it is recommended to take HSC1000 Introduction to Health Sciences.
- Prior to admission, each student is required to successfully complete a drug screening. Please be advised that certain over-the-counter supplements and alternative medicinal products, including but not limited to CBD, THC, Cannabinoid, and Cannabinoid Oil may trigger a positive result, and consequently, the student will not be able to be admitted to the Health Science program. A second drug tested sample is not allowed per Broward College Admissions Procedure A6Hx2-5.01. The links are provided below.

Admission Selection Criteria:
Selection is based on the candidate having the highest points earned in successful completion of General Education Courses with a grade of “C” or above. Points will be awarded for completion of the courses as well as the grade achieved in each course marked with an asterisk*. Points are also given for military service.
Due to enrollment limitations, meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. If you are not offered admission, you will need to reapply during the next appropriate application acceptance period.

In the event of a tie, overall GPA will be used as the tiebreaker.

Florida Southwestern PTA expansion site has been discontinued and will not be accepting a new cohort for Fall 2019.
