Learn How to Skillfully Capture Sound

The music business is a vital part of South Florida’s ever-growing and vibrant entertainment market. If you have a love of music, a burning creative streak and a desire to create the music that transforms our world, Broward College’s new Music Technology program offers the ideal training grounds. Our program is unique in the world of music production in that we expand your horizons beyond the technical aspects of production. We provide the foundational elements of musical performance to complement your training as a producer and technician.

The Music Technology program, which is an accredited, 24-month Associate of Science (AS) degree program, includes a 15-credit Music Production Technology certificate that is included in your tuition. Music Technology Curriculum
​The Music Technology AS degree consists of 64 credits and can be completed in two years. The accompanying Music Production Technology certificate is 15 credits and is part of the AS degree. Courses are focused on the following elements of the music production industry:
  • Technical and production skills
  • Audio equipment set up and operation
  • Underlying principles of music technology
Labs are an important part of the music program, providing the hands-on training you need to compete in the job market. You will have the opportunity to:
  • Use multi-track recording systems
  • Use the latest software programs that interface with these systems
  • Access industry-standard audio systems
  • Train on sound mixing devices and peripheral equipment
Classes are conveniently offered in the day or evening, with online course options as well. Class sizes are small and internships are available.

​Our programs are taught by music industry professionals who know the ins and outs of the business, and will teach you the practical core skills that will enable you to smoothly transition to a rewarding career in today’s music production industry.

Production Opportunities
​Part of the experience of music production is being able to go out on the field and apply what you have learned in the classroom. Broward College’s Music Technology program partners with local industry leaders and companies so you can get firsthand knowledge of life as a music producer and technician. We offer internships with the opportunity to work under the supervision of skilled music industry professionals to all students enrolled in the program.
