Apply to the Educator Preparation Institute

Step 1
To teach in the state of Florida an individual must first apply to the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) for their Statement of Eligibility (SOE). The individual applies for the SOE online at http://www.fldoe.org/edcert/steps.asp. On the application, the individual must identify which subject area(s) they would like to teach. In addition to completing the application, the individual must send official transcript(s) to the FLDOE for review. Based solely on the transcript(s), the FLDOE will determine if the individual is eligible to teach the specified subject area(s). Students may not begin the EPI program until they have a Statement of Eligibility. A valid copy of your SOE is required for registration. Please email a copy to ljulien@broward.edu after completing the EPI application.
Step 2
If you are a new student to Broward College, please complete the BC application and select option 3. College credit classes, but only as a non-degree seeking, transient or EPI student. Next, please select Educator Preparation Institute as your degree program. Finally, contact any Broward College admissions office to submit all required admissions documents.

If you have previously taken courses at Broward College, but it has been more than 2 full semesters, you will need to complete the BC application as a re-entry or returning student. You may contact any Broward College admissions office to submit the re-entry application and all required residency documents. Please select Non-Degree as your degree program and list F100 as your program objective code.
Step 3
Submit a supplemental EPI application. This application will ask you specific questions about your teaching experience and interests. Please make sure you are applying for the current term.
Step 4
Request official transcripts from every institution you have ever attended. Official transcripts (in a sealed envelope) can be submitted to any Broward College admissions office or can be mailed directly to the following address:
