How to get started

  1. Start by completing your BCC application online. From the future student menu go to the link that applies to you and complete the admission requirements. After completing your application print your confirmation and student ID numbers. Then go to any BCC registration office (Click here for a map to BCC South Campus, registration office, building 68) and provide your high school and/or college official transcripts, Florida resident documents and, if you are not a US citizen, immigration documentation.

  2. Take College Placement Test CPT or bring your SAT or ACT test scores to testing in building 68 (Click here for a map). To start in the aviation classes students need to be in college level for English, reading and math. Aviation Maintenance Certificate students must take the TABE test within 6 weeks of enrollment.

  3. Applying for financial aid is strongly recommended. Students looking for some financial help need to apply to FAFSA first.

  4. Make an appointment with the admissions advisor by calling (954) 201-8087. The advisor will explain and help you understand your assessment scores, assist you in academic and career planning, and help you plan a course schedule.

  5. Attend a mandatory orientation for all aviation students. At the orientation you’ll register for your classes and open your BCC email account, learn how to navigate our website and find information about courses, financial aid, schedule, payments, etc. You’ll also meet your instructors, obtain course materials and get the information you need to start in the program.

  6. Professional pilot students must:

    • Medical. Bring a minimum of third class medical examination certificate. It is recommended, however, that flight students receive at least a second class medical, as this is the minimum level needed to fly for hire. The first class is the level required to fly for the airlines. Go to the FAA website to find a doctor near you.
    • TSA. Non US citizens are required to fill out an application with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) prior to flight training. Students will not be allowed to fly until clearance is provided. MAY TAKE UP TO 4 WEEKS FOR CLEARANCE.
    • Flight Account. Open a flight account at BCC cashiers office with a minimum $3500 initial deposit. For flight training cost details click here.
    • Loan. If requesting a student loan, student must complete an aviation Enrollment Plan (PDF).
