Florida Apprenticeship Grant Program

fagp page banner

The Florida Apprenticeship Grant Program was awarded to Broward College, St. Petersburg College, and Florida State College at Jacksonville by the US Department of Labor. The purpose of the grant is to close the workforce skills gap faced by high growth industries in Florida.

Our aim is to develop and expand Registered Apprenticeship programs and strengthen employer participation; create outreach models to increase participation e.g. under-represented populations; and accelerate training by articulating apprenticeships to college credits. Industries include: Information Technology, Health Care, Manufacturing, Construction and Trades.

As Florida's workforce continues to age faster than the rest of the nation, long term workforce trends indicate both the public and private sectors will face devastating loss of leadership, experience, skills, and institutional knowledge.
