Director of Student Life – South Campus
Student Life professional for the previous six years, five at Polk State College and one year at Broward College.
Carlos works to create genuine and meaningful student engagement opportunities for the students of South Campus. He works to achieve this through co-curricular engagement and partnerships with faculty and staff. Carlos believes he has the best job at the college.
What diversity and inclusion means to you? How do you promote it?
Diversity inclusion is about knowing our students. South Campus is a wonderfully diverse environment with students from all around the world. When Student Life brings vendors to South campus, we aspire for them to be a reflection of the College’s student body. Carlos is proud to say that Student Life works with dozens of diverse vendors, which allows the College to achieve their ultimate goal, student success!
Did you Know?
For six years Carlos worked in major FM Radio between Miami and Orlando. During this time he met artist such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Brandy, Jay Z and a host of others. He left the profession so he could finish my teaching degree at Florida Atlantic University. Hoot hoot.
Everything University of Florida related. Go Gators. On perfectly clear evenings, staring at the cosmos and wondering what is out there.
Family Fun Activities:
On Saturday afternoons, Carlos sits with his two year old son, Mason and teaches him about college football and the teams that he is allowed to root for and the teams he has to despise (Go Gators, Knights, and Owls). His favorite activity though would have to be singing the ABC’s and numbers back and forth with his son, each day as he drives him to daycare.

Carlos walked on South Campus as a student during the summer of 1999 and is now the Director of Student Life. This is his fantasy career.
