For the second time, Broward College Office of Supplier Relations and Diversity hosted their version of the very popular television show “Chopped.” Where Small Disadvantaged caterers gave a Presentation, while a select group of Broward College end-users and judges sample their food, which was presented in three categories: Appetizer, entrée and dessert. Grand Prize winner S & J Catering won 13 Broward College catering opportunities; a $100 Williams-Sonoma gift card, courtesy of SDI International; professional Chef ’S knives and a signed cookbook courtesy of Chef Jean Pierre; and a host of gifts from the College’s Department of Continuing Education.

 

The Best Practices in Supplier Diversity and Sustainability


Champions of Diversity from multiple companies discussed their best practices in Supplier Diversity and Sustainability.  Executives shared how having Supplier Diversity and Sustainability programs give companies a competitive advantage amongst the competition, reduce business costs, company’s environmental footprint and support a sustainable future for generations to come. 

 

The Million Dollar Roundtable Town Hall


Broward College Office of Supplier Relations and Diversity hosted an exciting “Town Hall” meeting to discuss ways in which small business owners can capitalize on procurement opportunities, partnerships, financing and community engagement to create multi-million dollar companies.

 

2014 Shark Tank Business Competition


Small Disadvantaged Businesses had the opportunity to present their businesses to a panel of judges from corporate America, local governments, private business owners and one Broward College student from the BAS -Supervision and Management Program. Eight companies competed for a chance to win an Apple iPad Air and to spend a whole day with eight of the competition’s judges.

Women's Business Economic Empowerment

Women from Broward College, Comerica, Cube Care, Global Business Development Center, Intermark Foods, Inc., Jackson Health System, Palm Beach County, The University of Florida and Turner Construction discussed the main obstacles that negatively impact women-owned businesses and provided workable solutions. Women business owners also had the opportunity to win free business coaching.

 

"Chopped” Broward College Style


 The Office of Supplier Relations and Diversity hosted their version of the very popular television show “Chopped” where Small Disadvantaged Caterers gave a PowerPoint Presentation, while a select group of Broward College end-users and judges sample their food, which was presented in three categories: Appetizer, entrée and dessert.  The winner Standing Ovations Catering catered over 50 events and is still is going strong.

 

Power Networking with Facilities Management Procurement and Prime Vendors


Broward College Supplier Relations and Diversity hosted their first Power Networking with Facilities Management, Procurement and Broward College Prime Vendors. The event provided local and small businesses the opportunity to network with some of the community power players.

 

Power Panel Business Forum and Meet & Greet


Supplier Relations and Diversity hosted Power Panel Business Forum and Meet & Greet where business owners had the opportunity to meet and hear from some of the leading companies who purchase millions of dollars in commodities and contract a variety of construction related services from minority, women and small business owners.
