Broward College President J. David Armstrong, Jr. Announces $200,000 Donation to the College

Commitment Supports The Broward College Foundation and BCEduventures Student Venture Fund

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (June 29, 2018) – During the June Board of Trustees meeting, Broward College President, J. David Armstrong, Jr. announced that he will donate $200,000 towards two worthwhile initiatives for students and the college.

In his last remarks to the Board in his position as president, Armstrong detailed his commitment of a $100,000 donation to the new Student Venture Fund.  This fund will help to provide seed monies for students with the best and brightest new business ideas.  The funding when combined with access to the Innovation Hub, the college's business incubator and Broward College's innovative business faculty, will give these students' ideas a jump start toward success.

The second $100,000 of his donation will be earmarked to establish "The Armstrong Fund" within the Broward College Foundation. "The Armstrong Fund" will be a donor-designated fund which supports college initiatives, such as the American Dream Scholarship.  Such initiatives give deserving students who otherwise may not have access to a college education the resources to be able to attend.

"Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as the president and CEO of this wonderful institution for the last 11 years," said J. David Armstrong, Jr. "I will always be an advocate and supporter of Broward College and this donation is a token of my ongoing commitment. My greatest passion is seeing the success of our students and I am happy to be able to leave a tangible legacy beyond being president."

Armstrong founded and will chair BCEduventures, Inc., home for the Student Venture Fund, which will provide mentorship, support, and funding for Broward College student entrepreneurs who bring forward bright new business ideas. The fund will work in conjunction with the Innovation Hub, Broward College's business incubator that launched five years ago, along with faculty to offer students the means and creative ideas to jump-start their businesses.
