The Broward College Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness will host its inaugural Continuous Improvement Conference at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie, Fla. The event is designed to help industry professionals achieve operational and performance excellence by offering best practices, sharing expertise, and presenting successful business leaders as speakers. Sessions will cover various project management and institutional effectiveness topics. Registration is $300 and limited to 70 attendees. The Potters’ Guild Invitational is an accumulation of ceramic works by one of the most excellent groups of clay artists in South Florida. The artists of the Broward College Potters’ Guild share a studio space, as well as creative ideas and techniques, and this relationship results in fantastic clay works, both functional and sculptural. This year’s show is juried by Chad Steve, resident artist at the Armory Art Center. The exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, visit

Broward College President Appointed to IIE’s CIES Advisory Board for the Fulbright Scholar Program

J. David Armstrong, Jr., Broward College president, was recently appointed to Institute of International Education (IIE) Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) Advisory Board for the Fulbright Scholar Program. President Armstrong was formally inducted on June 26 at its board meeting in Washington, DC. The 12-member board provides strategic direction to the Fulbright Scholar Program by lending expertise and unique perspectives on U.S. higher education; identifying best practice standards; and serving as an advocate to the program by providing connections and ongoing exchange of information and ideas.
