Broward College and Florida International University will host a special event to commemorate the construction of the
Broward College-FIU Broward Center in Miramar, an 89,000-square-foot joint-use facility. The presidents of both institutions will discuss their plans for this new facility. The four-story, state-of-the-art building was designed by Perkins + Will and is being built by Kaufman Lynn Construction. Slated to open this fall, the building will be LEED-certified and will feature classrooms, science labs, meeting spaces and student commons. The student common area and dining facilities on the first floor will be shared by both institutions.
Broward College’s offerings will focus on business, supply chain management, and global trade and logistics. A number of credit-for-prior learning options will also be available, as well as credit by examination.
FIU’s offerings are similar to the current offering at the Pines Center, which will move to Miramar at the end of the summer: undergraduate programs in liberal arts, business and construction management and graduate programs in business, engineering, education and public administration. Certification/non-degree programs, test preparation and languages also will be available.
