Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) Program Requirements


Step 1: EPI courses

  • Successful completion of the seven course (21 credits) with at least a C or above
  • Maintain an overall 2.5 GPA

Step 2: Florida Teacher Certification Examinations

  • General Knowledge Exam
    • English
    • Reading
    • Essay
    • Mathematics
  • Subject Area Exam
  • Professional Education Exam

Step 3: EPI Program Portfolio (Florida Educator Accomplished Practices)

  • Mid-program portfolio (submitted after successful completion of three-four classes)
  • Final program portfolio (submitted after successful completion of the seven classes)

Students are required to provide the EPI office with a copy of their valid (cannot be expired) Statement of Eligibility and/or their Temporary Certificate as well as their score report for the FTCE.

Students are required to provide the EPI office with a copy of a valid (cannot be expired) security clearance badge as issued by Broward County Public Schools. Instructions on how to obtain a security badge can be found here.

EPI is a fully online program, thus students should be confident in their computer competency skills in order to participate in this program.
